RoboPhoto can be fully or partially automated. Select the items that you want to automate by checking the appropriate box. You may want to fully automate the program if you're using it for archiving images. You may want to partially automate it (like not prompting for FTP information) if you're already convinced that the configuration is correct and you don't want to be prompted for it each time. Another benefit of automation is that it allows anybody to run the program. You could, for example, automate everything except for the input of the web page name. This would allow administrative type people to create web pages without requiring any decision making on their part. RoboPhoto always saves the last information that was used (like the image source directory) and, by default, uses it the next time the program is run unless it's told to do otherwise. If the configuration associated with an automation item is incorrect, the program may produce unexpected results or not work at all. You can diagnose problems like this by looking at the error log. There are various Misc Options that will enhance program automation. Use Previous Image Source Directory If selected, the program will use the default image source directory without prompting you for a different one. You may want to use this if you own a floppy based digital camera and you never copy the images to your hard drive, i.e. the image source directory is always A:\. Another example is when you're always exporting images from a database (or a camera) to a specific directory. Back to the top Use Time-Based Web Page Names If selected, the program will generate web page names based on the current time instead of prompting you for one. The generated name is of the form yyyymmddhhmmss, where yyyy=year, mm=month, dd=day, hh=hour, mm=minute, ss=second. For example, May 11, 2002 at 4:22:01pm equates to 20020511162201. Time based web page names sort alphabetically based on the time. This will be handy when you're browsing the server using your normal FTP client. You may want to use this if you're using RoboPhoto to archive images or if the name doesn't need to be descriptive. Back to the top Use Default FTP Information If selected, the program will use the default FTP configuration, which includes whether to upload newly created web pages to an FTP server, instead of prompting you. Use this if your FTP information never changes or if you only want to create local web pages. Back to the top Suppress Messages If selected, the program will run in unattended mode. This should only be used during full automation. If selected, error message will be recorded to error.log, located in the main RoboPhoto directory, instead of being reported to the user. When serious errors occur (like being unable to connect to an FTP server or if you run out of disk space), the program will simply end. Use this option with care and only after you're convinced that the program's configuration is correct. Back to the top Assume One Floppy Disk Select this option if your image source directory is a floppy disk and if you never have more than one disk of images. By default, the program will prompt for additional floppies once the previous one has been copied. If you want to georeference images taken with Sony's line of floppy disk digital cameras, be sure to specify the UseDiskFileDate Misc Option. Back to the top End The Program When Done If you select this option, the program will automatically end when it's completed. Normally, you should only select this option during full automation. Back to the top Play The Status Sounds If selected, the program will play unique sounds when it's started, ended, connected to an FTP server, after a file is uploaded, after disconnecting from an FTP server, and when a web page is created. This allows you monitor what the program is doing without having to look at the screen. You can customize the sounds that are played by replacing the WAV files in the \Sounds directory, being sure to use the same file names. Back to the top Load Web Browser When Done If selected, the program will automatically load newly created web pages into your browser when done. If there was no FTP uploading or if the parent URL wasn't specified, the local copy will be loaded. Otherwise, the server side copy will be loaded using the parent URL setting associated with the FTP server. This should normally be checked. Back to the top Fully Automate Check this to fully automate the program. You should only select this if you have the need and if you're convinced that the program's configuration is correct and never changes. Back to the top Do Not Automate Select this to run the program in normal mode. This will allow you to change configuration options each time the program is run. Back to the top Choose Specific Automation Options Select this to pick and choose specific automation items. Back to the top Save Click this button to save the current information to rp.ini, which is located in the main RoboPhoto directory. Back to the top Help Click this button to load the help file. You can also press the F1 key anywhere in the program for context sensitive help. Back to the top Close Click this button to close the form. Back to the top |
